Former Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan has cautioned the Black Stars to stick to the game plan ahead of the final Group H game against Uruguay on Friday.
But for Luis Suarez, Ghana would play in the semifinal of the 2010 Mundial in South Africa.
The former Ajax and Barcelona striker deliberately blocked Dominic Adiyah’s goal-bound header with his hands.
With the Black Stars facing the same opposition at the Al Janoub Stadium, several Ghanaian football fans have called on the team to seek revenge against the South American side.
However, Gyan, who featured in that particular game and missed a crucial penalty has called on the playing body to be in control over their emotions and not approach the game with revenge on their minds.
“I don’t think going in for revenge will help. I think the Black Stars must stick to their game plan, and listen to the instructions from the technical team,” Gyan said as reported by Citi Sports.
“Definitely, as humans, some may have revenge at the back of their minds, but it should not get into the heads of the players,” he added.
A win for Ghana will guarantee passage through to the round of 16, while a draw may be enough, provided Portugal avoid defeat against South Korea in the other group game.
The game has been scheduled to kick off at 15;00GMT.
