Former Ghana international, John Paintsil has urged the Black Stars to stick to the game plan against Uruguay rather than seeking revenge.
The West African country will play the South Americans in their 2022 World Cup Group H final game at Al Janoub Stadium in an encounter that has a lot at stake.
Depending on what happens in the other group game between Portugal and South Korea, a draw could be enough to see Ghana sail through to the last 16 at the expense of Uruguay.
While many Ghanaians are fixated on paying back Uruguay and Suarez for that painful defeat in South Africa, Paintsil has called on the team to approach the game professionally.
“As professional players, you don’t go for revenge in matches, they should professionally approach the game,” he told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.
“It is a system and formation game. Uruguay can make the game boring, they won’t give you a fight. They will build slowly from the back, walk in the game, and be kicking anyhow. They have so many strategies.
“They have much experience when it comes to this tournament so we need to go according to our plan and know their strength and weakness. We need to stick to our plan and with that, they can never defeat us,” he added.
The Black Stars are second in Group H with three points from their first two group games and need all their might at work on Friday against Uruguay to secure qualification to the last 16.
