“The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) wishes to announce for the information of the general public that it has released provisional results of candidates who sat for the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2022 (Ghana Only Version),” a statement from WAEC has said.

The Council says it has “hosted the results online and candidates who so desire may access their results at the Council’s website www.waecgh.org.”

Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service has prevented over 8,400 candidates from accessing their results online for their failure to return materials supplied to them during the examination.

“Following a request from the Ghana Education Service (GES), the results of 8,486 candidates who failed to return learning support materials supplied to them and/or destroyed school property cannot be accessed online at the Council’s website,” it said.

“The affected candidates are advised to visit their schools for their results,” WAEC added.

Performance statistics

The statement says “a total number of 422,883 candidates made up of 203,753 males and 219,130 females from 977 schools entered for the examination. This figure is 5.25% lower than the 2021 entry figure of 446,352. A total number of 2,818 (0.67 %) of the candidates who registered were absent from the examination.”

Meanwhile, there has been an improvement in the results of candidates who attained between A1 – C6 in English Language and Social Studies from the results in 2020 and 2021.

Whilst the 57.34% that passed in 2020 was reduced to 54.08% in the English Language in 2021, it was increased to 60.39% in 2022. Also, 64.31%, 66.03% and 71.51% passed Social Studies in 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively.

However, the performance in Mathematics and Integrated Science have been undulating with 61.39% of candidates attaining the pass mark in 2022, compared to 65.71% in 2020 and 54.11 in 2021.

In Integrated Science, the increment from 52.53% to 65.70% in 2020 to 2021 dropped to 62.45% in 2022.

Find below the table indicating the performance of students in the four core subjects.
