Former Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akomea has finally responded to calls on him to redeem the promise of paying rent advance for the youth of Ghana.
Nana Akomea in the heat of the 2020 campaign indicated that the NPP government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will pay rent advance for young Ghanaians.
He said at a Press Conference that “Government will in effect pay the rent Advance for you, and you pay the rent monthly to the scheme.
“In effect then, the NPP government in its next term will eliminate the big problem of rent advance facing the youth and indeed many other Ghanaians,” he said.
But speaking on Accra-based Metro TV, Nana Akomea indicated that he was not speaking for himself but for the political party.
Therefore, people calling on him to redeem the promise should rather visit the office of the Ministry of Housing to ask what is being done about the promise.
“Someone sent me something last week and I laughed. They said Nana Akomea said the government was going to pay rent and now we can’t find him. We will do aluta against him because we can’t pay our rent.
I didn’t communicate those things on my behalf. This is what the manifesto said we will do so probably if you want to know what’s happening to the rent promise you have to go to the Ministry in charge of rent or in charge of housing. When I come and sit here and you play pronouncement been made I’m embarrassed because these are not propaganda. These are things that we said,” he said on Accra-based Metro TV.
