Ing Mahmud Mohammed-Nurudeen inducted into the Institution of Engineering and Technology
JoyNews’ Ashanti Regional correspondent, Mahmud Mohammed-Nurudeen has been fully inducted as a professional engineer under the Agricultural Division.
The journalist cum agriculturist was conferred the honour and certification after passing the professional examination by the Institution of Engineering and Technology-Ghana.
After pursing a diploma in agriculture at the Sunyani Technical University, he proceeded to further his education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology where he was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering.
The climate change and food security’s advocate also holds a Master of Philosophy degree in Meteorology and Climate Science.
Mahmud is one of the longest serving correspondents of the Multimedia Group with over a decade practice in journalism.
He is one of the few journalists in Ghana inducted into the engineering institute.
Despite the attainment of this feat, the compassionate journalist says he will continue to tell impactful stories whilst he proffers solutions to societal problems through engineering.
“As journalists, it is our work to tell stories that can solve problems and inspire people to change their lives, So, if I can now solve problems, then it is an additional trait for me. Because I won’t be only telling stories alone but also provide solutions. This is not only an achievement for me, but the entire humanity. Regardless, we will continue to tell stories. We are passionate about journalism,” he said.
The induction ceremony held at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT in Accra saw over 90 engineers newly admitted into the engineering profession.
President of IET-Ghana, Eng. Henry Kwadwo Boateng urged the inductees to dedicate their professional knowledge and skills to the development and betterment of human welfare, especially in the accomplishment of the sustainable development goals.
“We have not been seen to be collectively working towards what needs to happen to make progress and achieve the SDGs by the 2030 deadline. I am certain we will interrogate more sustainable ways of handling this issue,” he said.
He advised them to place service before profit, and honour and standing before personal advantage.
