I wanted to avoid being mocked for removing pants – Fmr DCE on acquiring properties

A former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bongo in the Upper East Region Peter Ayinbisa, has said that to avoid being accused of having used his salary as an appointee for sexual escapades with ladies, he rather used to acquire properties in line with the ideology of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), of which he is a member.

Speaking in an interview with Bolgatanga-based Dreamz FM monitored by, Mr Ayinbisa who is now the Communication Director of the NPP in the Upper East Region, rejected accusations by some people that he acquired his properties through corrupt ways, insisting that most of his properties were acquired even before he become a DCE, adding that he would have become a laughing stock if he had exited his position without having acquired any property.

“I had salary that was an enhanced salary, far ahead of what I was taking. I had free fuel. I enjoyed free utilities and you think that the salary I take, I should just use it to chop and drink?

By now, some would have been sitting and saying that I used it to ‘woro woro pants’.

If I had not built [ my own house], and living in a rented house[now] , the same people who are crying foul today would have said that when I was a DCE and was receiving so much, I didn’t care for myself; I was drinking, eating meat and ‘wrowro wrowro pants’.

That is what they would have said. People don’t want others to prosper in this country. Our party is property-owning democracy and I have not stolen money from any campaign funds,” he explained.

Mr Ayinbisa is a longstanding member of the NPP in the Upper East Region and held several positions within the party. He became DCE in 2017 after the NPP won power.
