Mrs. Zakia Abdul Wahab, Chief Commissioner, Ghana Girl Guides Association, has asserted that the organization is open to all ladies from aged 4 to 60.
According to her, a lot of people including parents assume it is only meant for children and hence, leave it for them, where as it is open to all ladies.
She told Mercy Bee the Ekumfi Princess on etv Ghana’s Girl Vibes show, “There are a lot of girl guides all over the country. The First Lady and Second lady are guides. We see them all over but it’s all about being able to identify what they can do.”
She believes that it is important to pass on what they have learnt when they were young to the upcoming ones.
“Today we have all developed ourselves in different ways and professions so we have to give back to the young girls. We would entreat all our girl guides to come back and let people know what the little engagement they had with girl guiding has done for them,” she stated.
She emphasized that guiding is fun as girls always learn new things in a fun way. Hence, they want everyone to know that guiding is for every girl “and for those who used to be part of the movement to come back home and see what they can do and how they can contribute to the development of the girl child.”
