Award-winning writer and former appointee of President Akufo-Addo, Ms. Akua Djanie-Manfo, known widely as Blakofe, has appealed to former President John Mahama to not run for the Presidency again.
Blakofe explains that Mr. Mahama would destroy his legacy and that he would not be able to meet high expectations of Ghanaians.
She noted that President Akufo-Addo is making John Mahama’s tenure as President great and all that could be jeopardized if he returns to the President. She would rather he focused on other undertakings such as international consultancy work.
“Your excellency…Blakofe here. Please don’t run for president again. Whoever comes next will not meet the extremely high expectations Akufo-Addo will leave Ghanaians with. You’ve done your part and Akufo-Addo is making you look great! If you return, I’m afraid you won’t meet the extremely high expectations of Ghanaians. You will rather ruin the legacy and good grace you’re currently receiving. We made a big mistake in 2016. And some repeated it in 2020.
We are truly sorry as we see the repercussions now. But still, I wish you won’t go back to the seat…the mess Akufo-Addo has created, we NEED a SANKARA MIND…please, don’t do it. Let your legacy stand as it is. Focus on doing international consultancy, etc. I wish I could talk to you…,” she said in response to an announcement on John Mahama’s Facebook page.
Blakofe was the first appointee of President Akufo-Addo to resign as Deputy Director General of the Ghana Tourism Authority in 2018. She has since become an outspoken critic of the President and his way of governing the country
