Chris Hughton says his strong connection to Ghana made it difficult for him to snubbed Black Stars Technical Advisor role.
The former Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion manager was appointed as Technical Advisor by the Ghana Football Association earlier this year.
Hughton and coach Otto Addo masterminded Ghana’s return to the World Cup after beating Nigeria in the final playoffs in March.
“‘I do feel a strong connection to the country,” the former Premier League and Championship manager with multiple clubs Hughton told the Mail.
“So, when they asked if I was prepared to help, using my experience and knowledge, the answer was always going to be yes.”
Hughton is playing a key role in Black Stars upward trajectory at the World Cup following their 3-2 win over South Korea on Monday.
Black Stars and Uruguay face off at the Al Janoub Stadium on Friday in the final Group H game. A win or draw will see Ghana progress to the next round at the expense of the South American country.
