A 10-year-old boy was swallowed by a crocodile in Sheopur of Madhya Pradesh. The crocodile attacked the boy when he was taking a bath in the Chambal river on Monday morning. The crocodile dragged the boy into the river.
The locals present on the site called his family and relatives immediately and caught the crocodile with the help of sticks, rope and a net. They dragged the crocodile out of the river.
Meanwhile, after receiving information about the incident, an alligator department team and a police team reached the spot. Both teams tried to rescue the crocodile from the clutches of the villagers. However, the boy’s family members didn’t agree to this till late evening. The family members of the 8-year-old were hoping that the child would be alive in the crocodile’s stomach. They demanded that they would release the crocodile only when it spewed out the child.
According to the Raghunathpur police station in-charge Shyam Veer Singh Tomar, “The boy went deep into the river while bathing. The villagers said that the child had been swallowed by a crocodile. Then they caught the crocodile using a net and sticks. The alligator department has started action in the matter.”
After persuasion by the police officials and the alligator department, the villagers released the crocodile.
